Sofia Holtzman joins Southern Strategy Group’s Miami office, after serving as a member of State Senator Dan Gelber’s finance and media relations campaign staff for Florida Attorney General.

Prior to her position with Senator Gelber, Sofia worked in the private sector for several public relations firms, where she was responsible for planning, developing, and implementing public relations, marketing, and creative strategies for local and national clients. In addition, Sofia also served as the Fundraising and Public Relations Specialist at CHARLEE Homes for Children of Miami-Dade County, where she worked on fundraising and communications initiatives.

Sofia is actively engaged in the South Florida community serving on the Board of Directors of Friends of St. Jude, a group of young professionals networking for a cause and dedicated to the mission of St. Jude and the fight against childhood cancer and is a City Year Ambassador, a group of young professionals who engage with and support City Year’s Corps Members through mentorship.  In addition, Sofia is a member of the Latin Builders Association, the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce, and a graduate of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce’s leadership development program – Leadership Miami.  In 2009, Sofia was appointed by City of Miami Mayor Tomas Regalado to serve on the City of Miami Arts and Entertainment Council and in 2011, was nominated to serve as a member of the Florida International University President’s Council.

While pursuing her undergraduate degree, Sofia worked as an intern for a private government relations firm in 2003 and State Representative Donald Brown in 2004.  Sofia received a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from Florida State University and a Masters in Business Administration, with an emphasis in International Business and Marketing from Florida International University.  Sofia is a native of Tampa and currently lives in Miami.
