Prior to joining Southern Strategy Group’s Jacksonville office, Shannon Hewett served as Chief of Legislative Affairs to Mayor John Peyton where she directed and managed the state and federal legislative agendas for the City of Jacksonville.

In addition to her service in Peyton’s administration, Shannon served as a council aide to the President of the Jacksonville City Council and was later appointed Northeast Florida Regional Director for U.S. Senator Connie Mack. Following Senator Mack’s retirement in 2000, Shannon joined the private sector where she spent seven years as a registered lobbyist representing an array of clients before the executive and legislative branches of Florida.

Community involvement has always been a key aspect of Shannon’s career and she currently serves on a number of non-profit boards in the Northeast Florida area.

Since making Jacksonville home in 1992, Shannon has been politically active in local and state politics, beginning her political career as a volunteer with the Republican Party of Duval County. She has also appeared as a panelist on the local political talk show “Poll Cats”, cable TV’s “First Coast Views” with former Representative Terry Fields and occasionally fills in as a conservative analyst for local election night coverage.

Shannon Hewett is a North Florida native and graduate of the University of North Florida with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science.
